Customer to resource view in field service

Posted on by 60

Hello Everyone,

I am new to Dynamics 365, and I am currently researching to see weather it is possible to configure the resource schedule board to do the following.

In the current Field service app I am working on, we display contacts (which we label carers) as a resource in the resource scheduler, each carer will have booking (work order) to fulfill . Each work order displayed against the carer, is linked also to a client (Account entity) that is the person the carer has to attend.

With this set up we are able to see assignments against each carer. This is brilliant but we need to also be able to create a similar view, but from the client prospective.

This view needs to show clients (Account) as resources, and the different booking (work orders)  that a client is expecting, and each work order should display the carer name (Contact) servicing the client.

A assignment (work order) will be always related to a client (Account) but not always to a carer, for example there are scenario where we can create an assignment but we might not have a carer who could fulfill it straight away, so it is left unallocated .

If we were able to see appointment from the client prospective in the resource scheduler view, the users of the system would be able to see allocated and unallocated appointment's in a visual view, and that is what I am trying to achieve.

Is this feasible? if yes could anyone point me to the right direction?

 Best Regards

The schedule board can only show resources on the Y axis and IMO it makes no sense to maintain an account/contact resource for every client. I would look at Power BI or the Power Apps Component Framework (https://pcf.gallery/ ) for visualization.

From my understanding of your use case, an appointment would be a Resource Requirement, an assigned appointment creates a Booking with a carer, and all unallocated appointments would be Resource Requirements without a booking, showing up in the bottom panel.
