Rectifying wrongly set up Global Dimensions.

Hello,

I have a system that has "Branch" as one of the Global Dimensions. The organization using this system has 8 branches. These were set up at go live but we later came to realize they are wrong except two of them. I have tried changing them from the "Change Dimension Values" page action then "Change Global Dimensions" in the General Ledger Setup but reports like the Trial Balance still don't reflect the changes made. Can anyone assist with a better way of handling this issue.

Kind Regards,

Eddie

    Hi,

Dimensions of posted transactions and documents won't be updated.

The official way to correct dimensions in posted transactions and documents is to create a Journal which reverts the transaction with the wrong dimension and posts a new transaction with the correct dimension.

    See here: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh168578(v=nav.90).aspx

When you have access to the Development-environment, there are other ways possible. I.e. creating a report which updates the Dimension Set Entry ID in the posted transactions.

    Hi Hannes,

I think the second option would work better. Could you please guide me on how to go about it with the report?

    Hi,

No, sorry. This is too complex to be doable through a forum. This kind of approach also includes the necessity of knowledge of the local system and local dimension structure.
