Email attachment

Hi Expert,

I have a question. The user is not able to add attachment to the email if the owner is not the current user. Any security role I need to modify?

Regards

    Hi,

What is the error user is receiveing?

Can you check if User has appropriate permission on Activity under core records.

If you can download error log and attach here, This will help us to investigate this issue further.

If found helpful, Please mark my answer verified.

    Hi Partner,

You can achieve it by setting Create permission level of the Activity entity of the operator user security role.

    For Activity Entity:

    • If the Create permission level is  None Selected or  User, the user cannot add attachment that you are not the owner.
    • If the Create permission level is  Business Unit, when the user and owner are in the same business unit, the user can add attachment. When they are not in the same business unit, the user cannot do it.
    • If the Create permission level is  Parent: Child Business Units, when the user and owner are in the same business unit, or the owner's business unit is subordinate to the user's business unit, the user can add attachment. Otherwise, the user cannot.
    • If the Create permission level is  Organization, the user can add attachment whoever the owner are.

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards,

    Leo

    RE: Email attachment

Under the activity tab of case entity, we create new entity. In this we can create task, email etc. With our workflow we create email in draft state. When the user is opening this email and tries to add attachment. They are getting error if the email owner or case owner is not the current user.

    Hi, Partner,

Could you kindly share more details and clear information?

Which entity does the owner field belong to, Emails or cases?

Which step you want add attachment?

What's the scenario? Are attachments not visible or not available?

For detailed setup of workflow, it is better to take screenshots.

    Best Regards,

    Leo

    RE: Email attachment

We have workflow which composes an email. The user wants to add attachment. If the case is assigned to user it works fine but we have have some user who works on tickets which is assigned to someone else.

Able to attach attachment fine if we change the owner not able to add attachment if the owner of the email is different.

I have provider the default security role of 'Customer Service Representative'. Do I need to add some security role.

Could you please elaborate your query ?

Based on the verbatim, I assume that you see the email in Dynamics 365.

Is the email received in Dynamics 365 or being sent from Dynamics 365 ?

How are you adding the Attachments to the email ?

What Security Roles are assigned to the current user who is trying to add attachments ?

Do you get any error while adding Attachments or you see no option to add an attachment ?
