Error on permission query 303 Negative Posting

Hello everyone,
after upgrading Business Central from version BC 26 to BC 27, we are experiencing issues with negative inventory adjustments.
Specifically, item ledger entries (inventory item movements) that were previously allowed and resulted in negative inventory are now generating errors during posting, blocking the process. Before the upgrade, this behavior was working correctly and no changes were made to inventory setup or company policies.

Has anyone experienced the same issue after upgrading to BC 27?
Are there any new validations, settings to review, or behavior changes introduced in BC 27 related to negative inventory or item ledger entries?
Thanks in advance for any feedback or shared experiences.

    Hello,
Yes, this issue is expected after upgrading to BC 27 and it’s not a change in negative inventory behavior. BC 27 introduced stricter permission checks around item application logic, so posting transactions that affect item applications (often seen with negative adjustments) now requires EXECUTE permission on Query 303 – Item Application Entries. In BC 26 this was implicitly allowed. The fix is to update the user’s permission set (or test with SUPER) to include execute rights on that query; no inventory setup or policy changes are needed.

With each major update, Microsoft adds updates, some of which include permissions-related content.
I suggest you test with a Super user first. If there are no issues, the problem is likely related to permissions. Grant the appropriate permissions to the user based on the error message.

PS: Using exclusion permissions can avoid most problems.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

This is because Microsoft has made permissions related changes in accessing some functionalities.
What you can do is assign this new permission to the users who need it and check. It shall solve the issue.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.
