NAV 2013 together with NAV 4.0

Posted on by 75

Is is possible to make a NAV 2013 installation together with an already installed NAV 4.0 SP3 and to have both versions running afterwards?

Today we have NAV 4.0 SP3 client installed on a 2008 R2 Enterprise TS and the SQL installed on a separate 2008 R2 server.

Our dream senario would be to install NAV 2013 for instantly use on the same platform and convert our adjustments in NAV 4.0 to NAV 2013 within for instance a year. To facilitate our communication with the NAV developer it would be a great advantage for us to have NAV 4.0 running using old data.

Thanks for the quick replies from both of you.

I was nervous especially regarding the client installation, because the NAV 2013 installation notes states that previous versions have to be uninstalled.

We will have NAV 2013 running on a separate database based on converted data, and I'm aware of the license issue, which has been solved.

    Have a nice weekend

You can have the db on same server i f you have license per database option enabled, you can keep one license in each db and thus be able to run the two version of NAV.

On client side, there is no issue running 7 and 4 at the same time.

If you want to use NAV4.0SP3 and NAV2013 on different databases, this is a possible. You can make migration to NAV2013, but you can also keep old v4 database for running old data. You can save your old license for NAV4 and use new one for NAV2013. I recommend you can use BI tools for reporting from two different database.

I am not sure are you wanted this or something else?
