I have a scenario where we wish to overproduce a production order when reporting from the RF device, but cannot and are given the error 'inventory dimension location must be specified'. We are reporting all journals at at finish, overproduction has been allowed in manufacturing execution production parameters. We are using a fixed output location which is specified on the resource group.
While we get this error sometimes, we are allowed to overproduce in situations where the quantity is included with an expected production quantity. For example, if my production order is for 10 units and I RAF 1 unit at a time, I get the error on the 11th RAF and cannot overproduce. However, if I RAF 4 units at a time, it will allow me to report the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th unit with no issue. We are not end-marking any production journals when doing RAF from the RF device.
The use case for the client is if they are producing and get to their full allotted quantity on the order, but have materials left in the line, they will run out the remainder and likely report a partial pallet after completing the entirety of the estimated order. We are on 2012 CU11, does this support the scenario described or is this not base functionality? If it is supported, what could be preventing us from doing so?
Thanks for the help.
