Hi there,

Our Team is looking to shift over to dynamics 365 project operations but certain functionality needs to be met. I've asked the Sales team but they couldnt confirm everything so please assist.

1.Are the sales opportunities and project management modules on the same 'left' dashboard.

2. Number of Custom fields available in both opportunities and project tracking?

3. Can the custom fields in each separate module (accounts, sales - Leads/opportunities, project tracking etc.) be mapped regardless of the data type?

4. Is dynamic pricing for the same good an option? some of our products are priced differently depending on client, specific conditions of service provided etc etc.

IF possible please attach an image demonstrating some of these functionalities as there isnt an option for a free trial as yet.

YC95 Please find answers below. This is based on ProjOps on Dataverse.

1.Are the sales opportunities and project management modules on the same 'left' dashboard.
I assume you mean the sitemap on the left for navigating. Sales opportunities are there. You can display opportunities from core Sales, ProjOps and Field Service under Opportunities. OOTB, only ProjOps opportunities are visible in the ProjOps model-driven application.

2. Number of Custom fields available in both opportunities and project tracking?
As many as you like (I think the hard limit per entity is 1024 fields). The Project for the web UI (the one that has grid, board, timeline) can't be edited to include custom fields.

3. Can the custom fields in each separate module (accounts, sales - Leads/opportunities, project tracking etc.) be mapped regardless of the data type?
Not sure what you mean by mapping. See here for mapping entity fields. With code of cloud flows you can also do all sorts of wonders.

4. Is dynamic pricing for the same good an option? some of our products are priced differently depending on client, specific conditions of service provided etc etc.
You can create price lists based on a customer and also based on project contracts.

Hi Antti,

Do you know if Microsoft have in their PO roadmap the availability to include customized field in the grid view of project planning? Or the possibility to add datetime on a task?

There's no official confirmation about customizable fields at the moment. You can add fields to the task entity in Dataverse though.

Hi Antti,

I was able to see some new functionality in MS Projects for the Web where in user can add custom fields on Project Task and can add them to the grid. Create a custom field in Project (microsoft.com)

Since ProjOps derives from MS Projects for the Web, I hope we get the same functionality in ProjOps. Hope we get it sooner.
