Private blob storage in D365FO

Hi,

We have an Azure Blob storage used to store bank files. Those bank files then gets process by the client’s bank. The configuration to connect to this Azure storage is saved in D365 FinOps. Since all clients have a PROD and a UAT environment, I want to know if there’s a setting in the Azure Blob storage that will only allow files coming from a Production environment. Like restricting access to only production?
I believe for production , UAT , dev enviornment there will be dedicated separate blobs. But cannot restrict access to it . Is my understanding correct?
Regards

    Hi Talent,

Yes , D365FO internally uses a blob storage for each environment(for temporary files during export/import and optionally for attachments).

Please check the document to learn more about authorizing access to blob :docs.microsoft.com/.../authorize-data-operations-portal

    Hi Talent,

As I understand your question, then you have Blob storage in your own tenant; apart from the F&O standard storage. In that case, there is no restriction possible to check where the access came from. You have to be careful and pay attention to have to correct settings in each environment; namely after a database refresh.

If this is related to an extension or ISV solution, then I think you can avoid the issue by making the connection field(s) encrypted.

That way, when you do database refreshes, the connection data will automatically be lost since encrypted fields are environment specific.
