Sales Accelerator Sequence - User not allowed to send automated email

Getting an error message when user is in a child business unit and sending on behalf of parent user. No info as to why. we've given org permissions in relevant sequence tables, systemuser table, etc. The sequence is owned by the user and send is record owner who for this record is a parent user.

Error shows: 
"Unable to send automated email. Manually send the email or contact your admin." but no other info is available.

    Yes it's nothing in basic setup. It's actually the Append To rights for Activitypointer Entity due to business unit child needed org access.

    Does the record owner have the below option ticked on their personal settings?
