Hi Folks,

I have created some custom entities having prefix "abc_"

Now i want to change the prefix of existing custom entities from "abc_" to "xyz_"

Is that possible to achieve ?

Regards,

RE: Change prefix for existing custom entities

    Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for your reply. However, that isn't quite what I was looking for. Thankfully, I was able to figure out the issue on my own.

As described, I created my own custom publisher. However, when I would go into Customizations --> Customize the System --> Entities, and try to create a new Entity, only the 'default' publisher was listed. What I needed to do was create my own custom solution first. From there, I could drill into my solution, then go to Customizations --> Customize the System --> Entities, and my associated custom publisher was listed as the 'default' publisher for my solution.

I hope that my explanation makes sense to you, and that others will find this useful in the future.

    Best regards,

    Chris

    Hi,

it is not possible to change prefix, but you can create new publisher and it will use same prefix for rest of new items. Either you need to make new entity and move all old data to new one.

I have created my own custom publisher. However, I am not certain how to use it. I do not want to modify the default publisher, but rather select the custom publisher I created. Can you provide the steps towards accomplishing this?

    Hi Pranesh ,

You can not change publisher prefix once its created for your solution as its treated as a reference for your solution component.

So there is no way to change this until you are creating new solution with new prefix and create new entity.

    Hi Pranesh,

Sorry to say OOB not possible. Other alternatives are

    1. Create a new entity with your preferred prefix "XYZ_".

    2. Create manually or using some custom programming transfer meta data.

    3. Transfer data using either Scribe/SSRS or through some custom programming.

    Hi Pranesh,

You try changing the XML of the solution. However i dont recommend it as you never know the consequences.

Please do POC on some trial and if it works without any hiccups you can proceed with that.
