Hi there,

I have a journal. Purchase Ledger Invoice journal. The journal type is Supplier invoice recording. I've added a user field 'Item VAT Group'. Great. But I how can I make this mandatory??

Thanks in advance

PS I'm no DEV, so cartoon drawing crib sheet required. :)

    You cannot make the field mandatory through the client user interface, the personalization feature is only used to include fields in the form/grid that is already part of the table. It does require customization via the Application Object Tree in the developer workspace to make it mandatory either on the form control, datasource or table level.

    It is not advised to do the change yourself, since depending on your partners' code release practice they could overwrite it.

    Great - thanks for the prompt reply. My DEV knowledge is limited - however I shall look into doing this.

    many thanks

    I would advise to talk to your AX implementation partner/team and request this change, to make sure it is properly done (considering Version Control, build/release practice, and putting the code on the correct application layer and model).

    I understand. I would not attempt such work. I am familiar with Version Control process.

    doing this on Table level can be less effective and trouble making customization. Because table being used at behind LedgerJournalTrans is shared for many purposes (GL, AP journal, AR journal etc.)

    The optimal way which I can see is to put an if condition before validation

    if(JournalType == InvoiceJounral)

    {

    //validation

    }
