Service accounts and roles

I've inherited a system that has the Service accounts (and a few "admin" generic accounts) set up as users with System Admin permissions.   Since these licenses are a bit expensive, I'm wondering do these need to be set up like this?

    It depends if the users do need to run some compnents in AX or not. Can you provide some more information? What type of service accounts are used and what would be the function of these service accounts?
