When we create a task in an Opportunity, it does not show up in the related account like we were used to in Salesforce. Is there a way to set things so this happens automatically? Thanks
Hi RicksterBC44,
I tested this on my side and it can show up in the related account.
Test:
1. Create a task in an opportunity.
2. Navigate to the related account record and you can see it.
If it doesn't show up, please check whether the Task is checked in your account form's timeline:
Hi,
Can you please check if Account lookup on Opportunity is field with value?
Also, make sure you have selected Task in your Timeline configuration.
Please mark my answer verified if this is helpful!

Hi Steve, thanks for the quick response. I can see that the task does indeed have an entry in the Accounts timeline. However, we have a tasks box in Accounts and that opportunity task does not show up there. The problem with the task just showing up in the timeline is that the timeline is long and soon that task entry will be out of sight and consequently need a lot of digging just to see it. So that is of little value.
I have attached an example of the tasks box that is in all of our entities (contacts, accounts, and opportunities). When we add a task in the Opportunities task box, we want it to also show up in the tasks box for the contact and for the account.
Yes, the opportunity was created from the account form and has the account name in it. I do see the task in the timeline but we want it shown as an open task in our Accounts task box. Thanks
In your situation, you could create a workflow to clone a task(Just change the Regarding field from Opportunity to Account) which is created in Opportunity entity.
Details:
1. Create a workflow to clone task from opportunity:
2. Change the Regarding field:
1. Created a task from Opportunity.
2. The task would show up in the task subgrid of the Account entity.
