Upgrading please check your User Licence Count reports

Hi,

Just wanted to share an issue we hit when upgrading from 10.0.4 to 10.0.9 as people need to add this as pre upgrade check.

After upgrading from 10.0.4 to 10.0.9 we had a shift of nearly 400 licences out of the activity bucket into the full operations licence bucket.

Thankfully the features which caused the shift were not actually required by our users so we have removed them. It was a bit of a shock to say the least! Think it is worth everyone checking this as part of their upgrade process if the goal posts are going to move as the result of an upgrade!

Thanks

Dave

    Hi Dave, This seems interesting!

So were those features newly introduced in 10.0.9 or they existed in 10.0.4 under the Activity license and now moved to Operations license in 10.0.9? Did you report the issue to Microsoft to get their confirmation on why this happened ?

    Thanks for sharing the information.

It was these two permissions that affected us (there might be others in roles we aren’t using)

Haven’t reported to MS yet will let them know Monday. I assume these were there in 10.0.4 but haven’t explicitly checked.

    Have a good weekend.

    Thanks

    Dave

Ah, I see why this happened. This is a bug Microsoft has addressed in 10.0.12.

The Project budget revision privilege has only View rights in 10.0.4 and it was updated to have Update/Edit/Delete permissions in 10.0.9. That is what caused the Project Manager role to change from Activity to Operations license type. Looks like MS has identified this and addressed in 10.0.12. See screenshot below for the LCS issue.

    Hope this helps.

Great thank you saves me reporting it to them good to know it is a bug as well rather than the licence goal posts moving due to an upgrade!

    Hi Dave,

If your question has been answered now, would you mind to verify the reply from Sandeep? The question will then get the status answered.
