"Position Default Dimension" data entity export shows old value of dimension

Hi,

We are facing weird issue on this Position default dimension entity export.

Our end users have changed a display value of one of the cost centre dimension and after that when we try to export the 'position default dimension' data entity , it shows old value of the dimension against the position.

When we change the department dimension  of the position from Positions screen and after that export  the  'position default dimension' data entity shows correct value of the modified Cost centre dimension. But as soon as we, set the earlier department dimension  back to that position and then doing the export data entity shows the older value of cost centre dimension.

We are confused here on what's going really.

Isn't data entity export fetching data directly from actual tables ?  why are we getting older values here in export? Why we get latest value only when any other dimension is getting changed?

Any idea?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi VDY,

This message means that it is unsure when Microsoft will change the behavior. You can decide to wait for it or try to create a runnable class to change values. This runnable class might be very dangerous and could cause data corruption if it is not developed correctly and not tested carefully.

You can check if there is already an idea for this or not. If you find or create one, please update this thread, then for sure, I will vote for it.

We already raised it to MS Support and got below response.

"As of now this is working as per design and there is already a plan to enhance the design and also add the capability in a supported format in future releases of the product"

MS guy is asking us to lodge it into Ideas portal where other partners/customer can vote for it so that MS can take a note and would plan for the work on it based on the voting result.

    Hi VDY,

So, it is about the description of the dimension. You are correct. I can also reproduce this scenario using other dimensions and on another entity (fixed asset value model). The values are stored in certain table series and re-used when the combination is used before. You can try to search for a known issue on LCS issue search. If it is not a known issue, you can log an incident for Microsoft Support.

From the Financial dimension from, user changed the description of one of the cost centre.  And later user went to HR-> Positions and update the department from Financial dimension Tab. After doing this, data entity export new modified value of cost centre. but if user again goes back to HR-> Positions and update the department back to the earlier one, the data entity exports the older value of cost centre.

    Hi VDY,

What do you exactly mean with changing a display value? Where and how was this done? Was it changing a value on the position details or changing the name on the cost center?
