Variable Unit of Measure

I was wondering if Dynamics AX has a function to handle variable measure of conversion.

For example, if a company receives a box (UOM = kg (i.e. 10kg) with many pcs in the box ) but a company wants to maintain the box as UOM = pcs (!!Pcs in the box vary every time!! i.e. 95pcs or 100pcs or 101pcs so on.) in the inventory.   How does AX deal with this?  Any suggestions  would be appreciated.  Thanks!

There is catchweight where you hold 2 UOM and you record both, but I would not use it for box and pieces, unless the pieces never come out of the box. It depends why there is an inconsistency - catchweight is used where you have an item that is weighted, so KG but also seen in another unit, so each. You buy legs of lamb, you need to know you have 20 legs of lamb, but each one has a variable weight.

The catch weight that Steven is referring is great when working with weighted units for on-hand quantities where you have variations in the quantity/weight ratio for each stock keeping unit.

Keep in mind that the inventory unit is the guiding unit and the one you would need to set and you also need catch weight active in your license settings and activate your item as a catch weight item.

Thank you so much Steven!  I was looking into catchweight too but I think we would like to take the pieces out of the box.

Here is more specifically what I am looking for:

This question may or may not be related to Unit of Measure.  I am not sure.
