After applying GP 18.4.1461 the client has experienced GP just crashing, exiting whenever they post and print. It is always the same. The pop up box comes up asking where to save the file and after the last print option is chosen GP just exits. No Windows crash pop up box or anything. Could the Windows Command Display of Action Pane be an issue? I am going to try switching them to Menu Bar.
Thak you Richard. I'll try this in the morning...Larry
The issue in this case was a corrupt REPORTS.DIC. I merely exported the reports to a package file, deleted REPORTS.DIC and imported the package back in.
Hi Richard,
Did you find a resolution to this? I recently updated a customer who is now experiencing this same problem. Not sure where to turn...Larry
No named printers in use here. All that changed was the application of 18.4.1461.
Hi Richard
Are you using Named Printers, if so re-create all the Printer IDs for the workstation having issues. Changes in the drivers and the way the binary driver data is stored can cause crashing when printing.
See the KB I wrote

I am not experiencing this issue Richard. I have tried changing the posting setting for a payables transaction to go to screen and file but this was not encountered. I then went on to set it to go to screen, printer (pdf) and file without prompting, still no issue. Can you tell me exactly which transaction type and posting setting you had? That way i can probably tell you if I am experiencing this as well. Then it might be confirmed as a bug?
Richard, as a test, could you make one of the users a local admin and see if that changes anything?
Joe
How about a Dex trace/SQL trace - you might be able to narrow it down. I'm assuming that it also happening under SA?
I have also been unable to reproduce this error ion our data center.
Could be something security wise that is triggered with this latest version? Users do not have full control of the local GP program folder.
I have tried uninstalling GP and reinstalling. No events are being logged in Event Viewer.
