If you operation schedule you will not get jobs, so the job card would be blank, so you would use the route card journal. If you job scheduled you could use either, although part of the point of the job approach would be to use MES, but also it enables scheduling by time rather than a rough cut capacity.

    Jianrui,

A Production order uses 2 main modules :

-the  BOM  that contains the recipe

    - the Route that contains the different operation that you needs to render in order to have the finished goods.

The Route contains one or more Operations and each operation contains one or Jobs.

Operation scheduling is unnecessary in  the Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation. More, the definition given by the resource documentation  about the Operation scheduling  does not comply with APICS definition of the RCCP.

You should only consider the Jobs scheduling because it is the single most important component of the the Production scheduling.

At the end of each job you will need to post the job card using the said journal. You can post  the Route card but keep in mind that mind that it will post the transaction into the Leger account ( I would rather avoid that ).

To easily manage your production scheduling , I would advise you to finish every job before posting the Report As finish Journal.
