Hi All,
I am working in Presales team, and I have no experience in D365 CE Data Migration process.
Can someone help me with below details?

  1. How to do estimation for Data migration process? (For e.g., if there around 10 tables (master + transactional) to be migrated and the total record count is 20 million)
  2. Currently the data is in an on-premise system. How can we bring the data to D365? (Should we first get the data in excel from the on-prem system?)
  3. How many phases of Data migration is required for 10 million records?
  4. Can we do migration directly in UAT/PROD environment or we need to do it in DEV/Test environment and then move to PROD?
  5. Any additional software is required for this data migration activity?
  6. How should we plan the testing once the Data migration?
  7. How much effort estimation considered for the testing?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Unfortunately there is not straight answer to the questions you asking. In general you have to use additional software like Scribe Online, SSIS & Kingswaysoft , Azure Data Factory and/or Azure SQL DB. Futhermore performance of loading depends on your approach, type of tables (=entities). The testing is based on hierarchy of your tables (e,g, entitiets). I would recommend to have dedicated D364 cE Migration Environment containing the latest solutions where you will load data but also are able to unload data for next test.

Every data migration project requires different approach. It is depening on complexity of data, cleansing, conversion requirements etc. In case you have more questions feel free to contact me.
