Printing Reports in Offline Mode - Dynamics 365 Mobile

Hi,

Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction?

I'm managing a project to replace our existing Field Service Mobile app with Dynamics 365 Mobile and have run into a problem. The solution involves inspectors, who are out in the field and often out of reach of the corporate WiFi network and/or cellular networks. As such, they are running in offline mode. As part of their duties, they are called upon to print reports in the field. The reports are in PDF format.

We cannot find a way to print the reports when the user is in offline mode. The solution Microsoft offers seems to revolve around e-mailing the report to a user but we need to have something printed to give to people in the field. An example would be printing out a permit violation, or a trespass notice. An e-mail is simply not fit for purpose in this situation.

I'm wondering if someone has run into this and, if so, was there a solution or workaround? I've opened an MS support ticket but was curious if we may have missed something in configuration on the backend that might prevent this? The app is running on Dynamics in the Government cloud.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello spotlizard,

To print a report in offline mode, you'll need to take a few additional steps. Here's how you can do this:

    1. Open the Dynamics 365 mobile app and go to the Reports section.
    2. Select the report that you want to print and open it.
    3. Once the report is open, tap the "Share" icon at the top of the screen. This will bring up the share sheet with various options.
    4. Select "Print" from the share sheet. This will open the iOS print dialogue box.
    5. From the print dialogue box, you can select a printer or print to a PDF.
    6. When you tap the "Print" button, the report will be printed or saved to a PDF file, depending on your selected option.

Please note that this feature is dependent on the device that you are using and some device may not support offline printing, in that case you would need to connect to internet and print the report. Also, you may need to check the app store for latest version of the dynamics 365 mobile app, as printing feature may change with new updates.

Another alternative is to take a screenshot of the report and save it to the device, and then print it from the device's photos app or any other photo editing app.
