Not able to create CustTrans Data Entity

Hi Team,

I am not able to create data Entity for standard table "CustTrans" because getting this error" The natural key for the table CustTrans was not found". Below are my findings and they are not working:

1. Created the copy of the table and added a field LineNum, and created index with the property allow duplicate- No and Alternate Key - Yes. Then i tried to set this index in the primary key of CustTrans . But system is not allowing me to update the primary key. So i left this approach.

2. Tried to create the duplicate of a standard entity, and tried to change the data source to CustTrans . But my concern is that, what if user want the field from other datasource. As we know that we have 19 to 20 relation on CustTrans table.

If anyone has created the dataentity for custtrans, please help me out.

Hi NeerajSingh,

The custtrans table uses RecId as its primary index, and the Data Entity Wizard doesn’t support tables with a RecId-based primary key.

Please try to duplicate the custtrans table and create a new primary index , then create your the data entity based on your new table.

Hi Neeraj,

Your second option is the best start here. You can build up the data entity with data from other tables by extending the data entity data source or virtual columns. Note that you can only export data as there is no natural key on this table, but I do assume this is your purpose here.

Yes Andre. I only have to expose the CustTrans data from FinOps to Azure SQL data base. From there the powerBi team will generate the report.

Just copy any existing data entity. Use some simple entity that doesn't have code or many data sources.

Then change the data source of that new data entity to CustTrans. Set RecId as the entity key.

Then copy the staging table of the existing data entity. Point your new entity to the new staging table. And finally regenerate the staging table.

Remember to set "IsReadOnly" property on the entity to Yes!

Hi Will,

When I tried to regenerate the staging table, on right click. I am getting this error.

"There was an error in generation staging table"

RecID field is not available to set as the entity key.

I am able to create data entity based on custtrans by duplicating the standard table.

Please show your steps. Did you add your new field in the custtranscopy? You could try to rename of your staging table.

Hi NeeraSingh,

Just create the copy and create a new index(index1 in my case) , then set the index as the primary key.
