Adding Leads to a quick campaign

Hi

We're using Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement.

We run a lot of events where we often get lots of new Leads (as in people who aren't current customers, who don't yet have a defined opportunity).

Now that we are looking at Dynamics we need to find a way to follow up with these people using quick campaigns. However I can't see a way to add Leads to a quick campaign, Dynamics only wants to show me Contacts.

Do we need to convert all these Leads to Contacts before we send them thank-you style follow up emails?

Is there another way?

Olly

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

The marketing part of dynamics for sales manage marketing list for account, contacts, leads...You can't mix them.

    Hi OllyMUK

Add the leads to a marketing list (static / dynamics based on your preference) and then create a quick campaign from the marketing list.

    Thanks for the comments.

I seems like the customer engagement package we're on doesn't allow for emailing to leads via campaigns. Which is a pain.

Are you using a trial subscription?

How did you arrive at this conclusion?

Feed back from a previous comment at the start of this thread.

I also have a lead called Mr Lead who doesn't show in the Add Members pane, but Mr Contact (a contact) does show. So it does look like Leads aren't allowed.

The property "Targeted At" in marketing list allows : Account / Contact / Lead

Once the marketing list is created, this property cannot be changed.

Based on the value chosen in this property, system automatically filters the type of records added in marketing list.

You cannot add leads in to a marketing list targeted at contacts and vice versa.

So please create a new marketing list targeted at Leads and you will surely be able to add "Mr. Lead" in to marketing list and will be able to create campaign too.

Mr. Lead and Mr. Contact cannot be in same marketing list as Lead and Contact are two separate entities.

One marketing list can target at one entity's data only

Thanks. I'll give that a go here.

So if we run events, at which we'll get both customers and leads attending, we'll need two different lists to communicate with those attendee's, and send out reminders of follow ups etc? And track two metrics?

Does the Marketing  add-on make that any easy?

As far as Marketing list is concerned, you have to create two lists.

You can add two marketing lists to same campaign.

In same campaign, you can send emails to both lists and track under same campaign.

This is same behaviour for Marketing add-on.

    Thanks BA.

If I'm honest, I didn't even realise that CE had anything other than "quick campaigns". We only have a Quick Campaign link in the Marketing nav option.

Once you mentioned that you can add a marketing list to a campaign, I noticed that the Add Campaign button in the Marketing List takes me to a different screen to the Quick Campaign screen. I'm assuming this is the "non-quick Campaign". However I can't see a way to manage those campaigns, where-as we can manage quick campaigns.

I have to say, I'll certainly be subscribing to your blog. Dynamics seems wilfully hard at times.
