Hello...

Can someone please provide a step-by-step guide to the rapid implementation of D365 Finance, instead of referring to lengthy links.

Really appreciates.

Thanks.

    Hello Extensol_D365,

I am afraid there is a rapid guide to implement Dynamics 365 Finance without proper planning.

D365 Finance implementation is a whole project that involves a quite number of sessions and activities right from the purchasing of the license, right to Go-live.

I will give you an overview of a full life cycle implementation.

These are major stages in the Implementation methodology recommended by Microsoft. In fact, you would see this on LCS.

    1. Analysis
    2. Design and develop
    3. Test
    4. Deploy
    5. Operate

I will try to mention some majors activities under each phase.

    1. Here is the initiation stage where the following activities are done:

    Kick off meeting.

Project onboarding is done on LCS.

    Deployment of UAT/DEV environment.

Requirements gathering, preparations of Documents like As-is, To-be..

    Fit/gap analysis document is obtained.

Data migration workshop could begin right at this stage.

    2. Functional requirement and Technical design documents are signed off.

    UAT script are prepared.

Customizations are done if there are gaps.

    3. User acceptance test is conducted.

UAT sign off is obtained upon satisfaction.

Pre Go-live Check list is filled and submitted to Microsoft.

    4. Deploy Production environment

    Data migration

Setup migration / configuration on Prod

    Mock cutover

    Go-live

    5. Post Go-live support

    Can you define 'Rapid implementation'?

    Hello Komi Siabi ,

I believe this approach is for D365 F&O, however, I am just looking for D365 Finance (dynamics.microsoft.com/.../)

I think I just need to create an environment in Power Platform and add Finance App. Not sure if this is the right approach. And if its the right approach, what is the App name I need to install in my env.

    Thanks.

    Hello Frank Hamelly ,

What I meant by rapid is: I think I just need to create an environment in Power Platform and install Finance App on it. Not sure if this is the right approach. And if it's the right approach, what is the App name I need to install in my env.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

The link shared does not lead us anywhere.

Dynamics Finance and Operations is a suite which has the following apps.

    Dynamics 365 Finance

    Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management

    Dynamics 365 Commerce

    Dynamics 365 Human Resources

    Dynamics 365 Project Operations

Microsoft did split into the mentioned app above in 2020, I think to better manage licensing cost for clients.

Having said that, implementing Dynamics 365 Finance is same as deploying Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, but the license cost should be lower compared to when all apps or workloads are being used by the client( Finance, Human resources, supply chain...). This simply means that D365 Finance is not a standalone application.

You can integrate Power platform with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps. You can not create an environment in Power platform and add Finance App.

    Thank you Komi.

Do you have any link to provide a step-by-step deploying process with as many screenshots as possible?

In your earlier response, under step #1 (Deployment of UAT/DEV environment.) Do you have steps to do so?

    Thanks.

    Hello ,

In view to have a successful implementation, you should work with a partner in your country or region.

    appsource.microsoft.com/.../partner-dir

Here is an implementation guide by Microsoft.

No, there's A LOT more to it than that.  Are you looking to stand up a demo environment for yourself or actual sandbox and production environments?

    Hello Frank Hamelly ,

This is for the actual Sandbox.

I understand we usually go for ISV/partners, but for a very basic Finance only implementation is there a way to get a step-by-step process to follow and provide a bare minimum environment and then work on it to its configurations like adding CoA, vendors etc?

    Thanks.
