Report generation

ReportReport

Hello there!

I've been browsing through CRM functionality, and I think there are some issues with the reports generation. The built-in CRM functionality is okay and not above that.
I know that Power BI can be an option but for me, it is too clunky.
Do you guys know/use any convenient tools?

I have the same question (0)

SQL Reporting Services is the main extra option in the Microsoft world, but this requires VIsual Studio, so it's more a developer tool than a user tool.

If you have CRM OnPremise, you could use any other reporting tool and access the data via SQL. If you have CRM Online, Microsoft have started to allow SQL access, but this is currently limited to access from certain tools (Power BI and SQL management studio), and I'm not aware of other tools being able to connect to this. It also only in preview, so I'd be wary of planning anything in production on it

    David,

thank you for your prompt and detail respose.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar neither with SQL nor with Visual Studio :/

Just CRM user, I thought maybe there's somethig more simple and user-friendly.

    Hi,

You can use SSRS reports as well. SSRS reports is a great tool to create reports for Dynamics CRM. With that you can create pre-filtered reports, that can be used as templates as well or you can create custom reports to pull up complex calculation and pull up data from multiple entities. You can find introductory information about SSRS on this blog: readyxrm.blog/.../

Also, SSRS supports sub-reports function which can help you to create a long- and a complex report which an end user has to run once.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

    Thanks

    Jay
