Ledger allocation rules, total account as source destination

I would like to know if we can use a total account as source destination, in order to allocate the sum of total account transactions to other main accounts? I have tried it my self, but I get the following warning and error message:
Warning: No records found for 00002 source.
Error: Allocation request processing could not continue.

and then it says: Operation completed – and there is nothing in the Allocation Journal to be seen?

    Hello Pathris,

Total accounts are - to my knowledge - not supported as source destination. Yet, this should not be a problem, as you can define ranges of accounts that will be used combinedly as the source destination for the distribution.

Have you tried / tested making use of those ranges?

    Hi Ludwig,

Yes, I agree to the work around. But I want to extract some kind of report on the total account, such as in Trial balance, but I cannot seem to do so?

    Hello Pathris,

The total accounts are not included in the trial balance anymore.

What you can try as an alternative is the Management Reporter.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Dear Pathris logically system should not distribute amount from total account the reason behind this logic is that total account include multiple account total if we select total account to distribute conflict could be incurred  between accounts because total account(source) don't have criteria from which account this amount should be distributed.

    Thank You,

    Haris Gillani.

This logic is correct when you have several groups of accounts bunched or rolled up to the "Totals" account but when you only have a set number of accounts and you need to summarize them for further allocation then it make sense to have an ability to use "Totals" accounts as your "Source". Many companies using legacy ERP systems, develop a logic to read their financial statements for these allocations and that scenario becomes a challenge to implement in D365FO/AX without customization. Of course the solution Ludwig provided will work but the Allocation Rule will need to be maintained carefully (Additions or Removals of Accounts).
