Utility Company using Customer Billing in NAV

Hi,

I'm wanting to connect with a utility company that makes use of the complete customer billing module in NAV. We use other software for billing our residents and want to change this, would be great if I can get further information.

Full landlord/managing agent, property, billable space and tenant information

Property and tenant history (track tenancy changes)

Ability to do reconciliations of invoices

Landlord allocation (ongoing and historical)

Ability to import interval meter data/analyze data quality and create system estimates where required

Meter reads validation

Ability to do batch uploads of metered data and supplier invoices

Ability to receive the data automatically via email/FTP/API

Easy to navigate and able to support unlimited number of landlords, tenants and produced invoices.

Process of setup and reporting should be as automated as possible to speed up that process

Ability to create excel and PDF invoices for tenants

Flexible methodology for calculation of tenant re-charges – ability to create formulas in the system

Ability to create virtual meters to calculate the allocation for unmetered demises.

Ability to recharge heating/cooling/AHU through electricity and gas invoices

Ability to create a custom based invoice for tenant and automatically send the invoice to client’s dedicated email address

Ability to generate payment files from the system or to integrate the system with client’s payment system to raise tenant invoices.

Ability to track invoice payment status and mark invoices as paid/awaiting payment, etc. to support credit control activities

Hello. We have couple clients using utility billing solution in NAV, it is also available on cloud version

www.skybill.eu/.../free-utility-trial-offer , if it interests you in any way, we can also arrange meetings with our clients for references. And we have also customer portal for utility meter reading input, and bill payment.

There are certainly companies using special verticals for utility services (e.g., www.b-s.si/.../all-for-utility-microsoft-dynamics-nav). I recommend to search for a partner who is implementing such vertical and refer to his customers and his experience.

What you had mentioned can certainly be implemented in NAV.

We are currently using a system called Inhance for our customer billing.

Here is the customer billing needs for our utility company:

One portal for customer to view multiple accounts (Residential, Industrial, multiple properties)

PDF statements & invoices

Ability to pay through debit/credit

One master customer table – supports transition to CRM

Scalable for growth both in volume of customers but geographic location

Compatible with Insight (Neptune Water Meter Software)

Improved reporting functionality (currently have crystal reports, cumbersome and not great)

Invoice presentation in Inhance currently very difficult to change without custom programming

Current customizations in Inhance making upgrades difficult and unreliable.

Requirement for an action queue – schedule for service start date, shut-off dates, move dates, etc.

Most solutions are municipal based and has too much system for our needs.

Now it is more clear.

What are the typical challenges that you are facing with your current NAV system? NAV is more of robust solution and can easily customized to meet your requirements related to Utility Billing.

Hi Vishal,

We are a utility company and we use Dynamics Nav, however, we use a different system for our residential customers. We are looking into using Nav for this but I wanted to find out from another utility company whether NAV works well for this purpose.
