Call center 'Allocation Priority'

There is a field you can set on the Customer record at Sales order defaults -> Allocation -> Priority. It has 'MCR' in the field name, so I assume it arrived with functionality in 'Call Center'. The 'help text' for the field reads 'Priority used to determine reservations'.

Does anyone know what it does? Does it have any functionality associated with it? Or is it there simply for sorting customers when posting something or other. If the latter, what might you be posting where you are setting reservations?

I think it's used in conjunction with the new Picking workbench, where you'll be able to filter out and see only those orders that have a corresponding priority

    Thanks Ivan, you're dead right.

For everybody else, there's new functionality in R3 (which I assume is not compatible with R3 Warehouse Management) that can automatically search for sales orders and create picking lists. It will even attempt to automatically reserve inventory where reservation was previously not made.

A nice TechNet page about it is available (technet.microsoft.com/.../dn715978.aspx) and you might have missed it since (oddly) it is not mentioned in any of the R3 What's New stuff.
