Build number after CU12 Slipstreaming ?

Hi folks,

I have done new installation for AX 2012 R3 and included CU12 in update folder for slipstreaming.

Everything is installed and working.

I am just curious, how would i be sure if my application really installed with CU12?

I am checking application and kernel version, its 6.3.164.0 .

If its not with CU12, what could be the possible cause the setup did not considered update?

Looks like you are on RTM version. You can check build numbers here - blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../overview-of-microsoft-dynamics-ax-build-numbers

You can follow below steps to check installed models -

You start the process, by launching into an instance of AX 2012, and then clicking on the question mark in the top right hand corner of the AX Rich Client.

In doing this, the help context menu should appear, as seen above, and the next for you, is to click on the 'About Microsoft Dynamics AX' option.

Here we have some information that is specific to the instance of AX 2012 your connected to. The next option you want to click, is the one highlighted above, 'Show Installed Models.'

    Thanks Ajay,

I am aware of this part, that why I got confused.

Now, the question is why my Installation is not done including CU12 when I have already included that into update folder?

The likely reason is that you have slipstream the kernel binary only, and not the actual full CU12 slipstream package that includes business logic too (in form of axmodel files). You can download that from the LifeCycle Services portal, there is a separate link/tile for Updates in an AX 2012 project. The build numbers that Ajit has linked only refers to kernel updates, which can live separately from the business logic.

This article could prove to be useful to clean up your confusion:

    Thanks for your reply vilmos,

I downloaded the same package as you pointed out from LCS.

    File name: DynamicsAX2012R3-KB3199741-SlipStreamOnly

Extracted this file under updates folder of AX setup.

I found this line under logs, this might be the actual issue

Update under the following path is ignored because it includes no license term files

I have checked the update folder of AX setup, it contains folder named as licenseterms.

I am not sure what else did i missed here.

Anyways, I am going ahead with the Manual update process for CU12 using AXupdate file.

    Thanks.

Not sure, maybe your extraction method was wrong, or you placed the contents directly in the updates folder, which is incorrect.

Make a folder with the KB number, then place the installation files within, like \SetupMedia\Updates\KB12345678\

    Thanks Vilmos,

I actually extracted the contents directly into updates folder.

Will take care next time. :-)
