Item requirements consumption and cost to project AX 2012 R3

I can't seem to get purchased items to stay reserved after product receiving.

I am loading the items on the wbs, then transferring to items requirements, then using mrp to firm up purchase order, then registering purchase order, then passing the quality order, then receiving the purchase order, when prompted to consume now I say no. After this is completed the item is in stock but showing physical available and allows  other projects to reserve that item. Am I missing a step.?

    Hi RWJFuller,

When the PO is linked to a project, the items will be always consumed. Make sure you create a PO without project reference if you need to have the items not consumed immediately.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for the quick response, so when I receipt the item on a Project Purchase Order I get prompted with a message box "Consume items for the project immediately" Yes or No, If I select Yes it goes straight to the Packing Slip (Delivery note in the UK) If I select No it appears to put it into stock (but unreserved) Is the system not actually putting it into stock then? - For your reference I'm looking at a solution to enable us to order long lead items for an R&D project (so no production orders will be raised) but would like to items to stay in stores until required.

    Regards

I found in the latest version where call center functionality is added a feature which indeed will ask to consume the items or not. Is your question you want to reserve the items? What settings do you have related to reservation in your environment? Or is your question different. If you want to block these items, you can also consider working with quarantine and release it only when the products are required or use a special warehouse which is separated from normal stock.
