Kick off BPF from later stage depending on entity

Hi all

I'm using a modified version of the OOB BPF "Lead to Opportunity Sales Process". When I create a Lead, this BPF is being applied by default (what I want), but when I create an opportunity directly (i.e. not from a Lead), no BPF is being applied. I'd like the same BPF to be applied, but to just start from the first stage that applies to that entity.

This seems like a simple thing to do, but somehow I'm just not finding the solution here. Any help would be much apprecaited!

Thanks!
James

RE: Kick off BPF from later stage depending on entity

If you look at the out-of-the-box Business Process Flows, you will see there is one for the Lead to Opportunity Sales Process and one for the Opportunity Sales Process. If you using the sales process that starts with the Lead, then it will us the Lead to Opportunity BPF. If you click "New" for an Opportunity (not from Lead), it will use the Opportunity Sales Process.

Therefore, you can set the BPF for the Opportunity only to have whatever stages you would like.

Also BPFs are stored as their own entities. If you look at the default solution, you will see both of the BPFs listed.

It is subverting the logical use of the BPF, if the starting entity is the Lead, it should start on the Lead.

It might be possible, by code, to set the specific BPF to the Opportunity and ignoring the Lead stage, but it isn't intended to do that.

Thank you for your reply, migsbeja!

So I can't have one BPF kicked off at a later stage? I need a new BPF? How silly! *smh*

    Hi,

The BPF that you are using, the starting entity is the Lead, so that is why that BPF load when you start to create an Opportunity instead of starting from a Lead.

You can create another BPF to start from Opportunity and use the same fields and stages. For the application, it doesn't make sense to use that BPF since you aren't starting from the Lead and there isn't a Lead record to link to the Opportunity and have it also associate on the BPF.
