Help upgrading NAV 2016 to 2017 - very minor field and page customization - stuck at compare/merge

I am trying to upgrade from NAV 2016 to NAV 2017. We have a few small customizations in 2016, extending a couple field lengths and adding fields to reports and pages. When following the update process I got stuck at trying to export the application code as a text file for a compare/merge because I do not have a developer license. Is there another process or tool to update to NAV 2017 and keep our customizations?

We are a small company, with no special customizations and can't justify the cost nor feel the effort requires our partner's involvement to perform this update.

If you don't have license then there is no way to export the objects into .txt format, please let us know the error you are facing during the upgrade

I am aware that I do not have permissions for exporting the objects to .txt because I am a user and do not have a developer license.

I would like to know if there is another way to update Microsoft's product without involving my partner and incurring unnecessary fees. It's so easy I don't know why I'm required to get them involved. So is there another way I can perform the update. For example, can I get a temporary license to update NAV from 2016  to 2017?

    this is the error text

Export-NAVApplicationObject : : [18023703] You do not have permission to run

    the 'File, Export, Text' System.

Contact your system administrator to have your permissions changed.

I am sorry but unfortunately there is no temporary license either you have to buy the developer license or contact your partner to do the few of those steps with their license.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of the way to achieve such export without the developer's license. There is also no "temporary" licensing solution. Have you done such customization changes that required the developer's license?

Agree with other members as without Developer licenses you can not export it to text file.

    Dear TJ-NAV ,

Simple answer is you cant do this without having developer licences

Just purchase one for your company , its is might be helpful to you for your future customizations also

    Hi Tj-Nav

During the Upgrade Process, you need to have the development License for Data upgrade.

so without involving the partner you will not be able to upgrade to Nav 2017 unless you have a developer license for your company.

    Thanks

    indika.

    @Maneesha De Silva

$28,000USD + 16% annually because I extended item description field length... that is not reasonable
