Ideas how to delete this Role?

Not 100% sure how this happened exactly, but we ended up with 2 roles named identically..

I was able to delete one, but the other remains, and I cannot delete.

If I try, I get this:

I also notice this, when I do an entity-based export of USER SECURITY, and look at the Metadata Customizations entity excel file for this line item:

Any suggestions?

Was this role created from the Security information page or from Visual studio ?

It was created via the GUI: Sec page.

When you try to assign roles to users, does this role appear?

And is that Particular role assigned to any User currently?

I was able to assign it to myself.

It wasn't assigned to anyone

I really can not say, why you are unable to delete the role.

Try clearing your data usage and try again.

Hi Rich,

When reading the question and comments, my thoughts are similar to Mohit. He shared by blog for using the Repair button. If this does not work, can you then share a screenshot of the security configuration form with this particular role?

I also wonder how you were able to get two roles with the same name. Were both roles created as configuration or was one a role coming from the application metadata?

I ran the repair, but no help.

Regarding how it was created, I'm not 100% who or when: but, I can tell you that it was "somehow" created via the GUI. We don;t configure

roles etc any other way.

I'm also baffled as to how two roles got created withh the same name, as I understood that to be impossible..

Hi Rich,

As the role has an AOT name, this is not created via configuration. This should be added via a customization in Visual Studio. You can check the model details and delete the dupliate role in Visual Studio. If the role was created via a configuration, the AOT name is not visible and has a GUID ID in the back-end instead of an AOT object name.
