Use BgInfo SysInternals tool on LCS cloud hosted system.

Hello,

At https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/bginfo we can find the excellent utility for setting a background wallpaper of a machine.  This helps identify which environment you are in when switching.

But when I run it on an cloud hosted development machine the text fields set as wallpaper disappear as soon as the program is closed. The expected behaviour is that the wallpaper is set.

I think I recall reading somewhere on MS Learn that wallpaper settings are disabled, but this seems like a simple non-intrusive thing to permit.

Has anyone tried and successfully implemented BGInfo or similar on an LCS Cloud Hosted Development Machine?

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Jim,

As soon as which program is closed ?

You mean the Bginfo app itself?

In my case, the text still remains the same.

    Hello Komi,

For me all the text disappears. The only thing that is persistent is any background colour.  To be clear, we're both talking about Cloud Hosted D365 environments right? Just want to be sure.

Did you recall making any setting to your environment to allow the background to remain set?

    Hello,

Yes, cloud hosted environment. Application 10.0.32.

No, i did not do anything. I just launched the Bginfo and clicked Okay. I only edited the  host name. That's it.

Interesting.  Maybe it's some other setting.  Well, I'll have to leave it at that I can't dig any deeper into this one at the moment. Thanks again Komi for your input.

Maybe you should restart the VM and try it again.

I tried it again on a fresh start.  I can only preview the change. I can't apply the wallpaper.  Shrug.

Well, one more thing, can you download the Bginfo afresh from the link you shared and try it once more?

Yeah, I tried it again today.  No joy.  Only wallpaper colour.  No info text.
