Hi All,

I have installed and configure Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU8 on a Server. Now, I want to give access to users who will access the server from their Desktop/Laptops on which Windows XP/7/8 is running.

Can anyone guide me how or which steps I have to performed to give them access?

    Hi,

    I recommend you create user using Active Directory. You can define an active directory group for AX and set the users. Then you can add the group users in AX.

    Hi Hassan.

    You need to:

    1. install the Dynamics AX client on each of the machinnes

    2. During the config you will need to provide the Port and WSDL port of the server you setup.

    3. Add/import the users via the users screen in AX

    Is there a specific issue you are needing assistance with or is it a general question?

    Hi Hassan,

    There are some different options like installing the AX client on local machines or using e.g. terminal services. You can read about these options and how to setup users in the AX 2012 security guide: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    make sure the client OS are in domain or domain trust has been done. Once this is validated, install the AX client on desired systems!   it can be also used by RDP, if you have TS  or multiple RDP Licensing or citrix in place.

    You need to create a AX configuration file and share it, use the path while installation the client AX on desktop or laptops in domain.

    Hi Hasan,

    Following steps may help you to get it working on all users machines;

    1. Connect with your server where you installed AX and open Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 configuration

    2. Click on Manage button and create new configuration file, name it as you like

    3. Make sure AOS server name is correct from connection tab of this configuration utility

    4. Now you have .config file to share with everyone, store it at any shared location

    If you are not using TFS or RDP please follow these steps;

    5. Install AX 2012 client from AX setup on one machine, select only this component at this moment

    6. Once installed successfully, copy .config file (created in step 4) into user's machine

    7. Open Dynamics AX 2012 R3 configuration from client machine and Click Manage and import this .config file there. This is an optional step but sometimes important to follow.

    8. Initially you may get error that "Login failed", you need to add this AD user into AX first. To do that open AX on server and under System Administration module -> Common > Users click import users button.

    9. Import your required users from AD into AX first and assign them system user role to get them access to login into AX. You can assign more roles later as per your requirements
