Hello,
we are trying to setup Sub Fixed Assets.
In standard this functionality isn`t available.
Is it best practice to use asset group as main asset and asset itsself as sub asset?
Regards,
Sabine
Hello Sabine,
You are right, there is no 'sub asset' available in D365FO.
What is usually done is separating the assets by asset groups and within each asset group you have then different fixed assets.
If this is not sufficient then you can think of using an additional financial dimension that can provide you an additional sub-grouping of your fixed assets.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Sabine,
At first sight, I would say it is not recommended to create asset groups per asset unless you only have a few assets to maintain. Next to the financial dimensions mentioned by Ludwig, there are alternative ways you can consider:
- On the fixed asset details, you can maintain a Structure by providing the main asset.
- You can use the reporting sorting fields available on the asset details
- You can create fixes asset statements. Using the fixed asset statement rows, you can also create the grouping.
