How to Apply Field Services Bing Address Completion (Address Suggestions) to Custom Entities?

Posted on by 1,579

D365 has a Native/Microsoft feature where Contact, Account, Lead, and several other out of box entities all cause an auto-complete or Address Suggestions (shown below) box to pop up when entering an address, so that users could choose the correct address which I assume was being presented from some Microsoft (possibly bing.com) service using real bing address data to allow the user to correctly select a valid address.

A sample is shown below.

I believe it is called Field Services bing address completion and  it facilitates both address completion and storing the Lat/Long on account, contact, lead and several other out of box records.

How can this be applied to custom entities?

I understand users can enable or disable address recommendations by going to Field Service app > Settings > Field Service Settings > Other section. Then set Enable Address Suggestions to Yes.

Is the secret to enabling this on custom entities to add the custom entity to resource scheduling, and then this will work?

Or am I way off point on this?

    Hi, Jim

I have tried to add the custom entity to resource scheduling, but Address Suggestion still doesn't work for it.

Here are some of the solutions I attempted:

    1. I created the fields including: Address, City, State, Zip Code, Country, Latitude and Longitude according to the other entities whose addresses can be auto-completed.

They are also the parameters which is necessary to the Bing Map.

    1. There is no ‘Geo Code’ button for the custom entity in the top toolbar, which can only be achieved by Flow.

    1. What’s more, I found that there is an N: 1 relationship between Address entity and Account/ Contact. But it cannot be created additionally.

    1. There are no related processes, such as workflows, in the main form or the field of address for the entities.
    2. Here is a bit of a related issue that might help you.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you. I hope the above attempts can help you to eliminate some wrong ideas and your issue will be solved soon

    Best Regards,
