Quantity Effect at POS

Dear All,

Kindly give your opinion and feedback for the below query.

We are in a process to implement AX 2012 for Retail Business. We have multiple stores at multiple places and we are currently using MS Retail Management System. The issue is the quantity is not getting effected in the local database when we make the sales invoice. The POS waits for the jobs to run and gets sync with the Head Quarter only then the quantity is getting reduced.  But in our MRMS (current ERP system) the quantity gets reduced immediately when we make the transaction.

Now when there is no connectivity between the store and the head quarter(this happens frequently in our case due internet issues), the cashier can sell the same item multiple times without any control.

Is this behavior of the system correct? The vendor says the AX works this way.

    Hi Zakeer,

    This is the correct behavior. The POS will also not prevent you from selling the same items multiple times and going into "negative" inventory but once you try to post this in AX it won't let you depending on your warehouse and item model group setup.

    The inventory lookup you see on the POS is actually the current on-hand inventory that you see in AX. That will only be reduced once you sync data and run the Inventory Posting job in AX.

    But what will happen if you are using offline mode let's say when you are disconnected from AX. There will be no track of inventory either from POS or in the head office.

    Basically we would like hit the inventory at the same time as transaction like we have in MRMS POS.

    Kindly suggest if you know any work around.

    Currently I do not know any work arounds for this issue. That would require development on the POS.
