Hi All,

Greetings of the Day!!!

Hope all are doing well.

Need to understand what happens if we change decimal precision to 3 for KG units under in organization administration module as shown in below snapshot.

Sales orders and purchase orders are impacted in which fields are processed via EDI and BIS communications.

For example, if we give 10.786 Qty in the XML file, it is imported as 10.79 for two decimals only, the same as in the Purchase order.

but for the net amount it is calculated as 3 decimals only:

EX: 10.786 *15.78(unit price) = 170.20.

Please share complete information on this subject.

Thanks in advance and Thanks for your time.

It would be great if you share the complete info.

Kind Regards,
Shariff

    Hi Shariff,

I wouldn't recommend using more than 2 decimals in case you don't extend the extended data type for the inventory quantities. The default is 2 regardless of the decimal precision of the unit.
It is possible to extend the extended data type ProductQuantity, but not sure if you would need to change more extended data types. I only did a quick check via the sales order lines. You would need to do extensive regression testing.

Another solution direction might be converting the quantity from the message to grams in Dynamics 365.

You mentioned "EDI and BIS" communications, are you using an ISV solution from To-Increase?

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, we are using an ISV solution from To-Increase.

Can you please let me know on which fields it will impact the decimal precision? when i change from 2 to 3.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Kind Regards,
    Shariff
