Form Preview show nothing in Visual Studio on VMs

I exported VM to local workstation, access it by Hyper-V

When I design a new form in Visual Studio, the preview pane shows nothing.

But when I access another VM by Remote Desktop Connection, the preview pane works well without any extra operation or setting.

I restarted the AOSservice several times, and Visual Studio is up to date as well.

Does anyone know how it happens, and how to resolve it?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Did you restart the entire VM as well ?

In the VHD itself, click restart. When the VM is back, give it fee minutes before opening VS.

If this still does not work , download a new VHD from LCS.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

This happened since I export the VM to local desktop one month ago (I didn't realize this until I need to create a new form XD).

The VM and Visual Studio restarted several times, the local desktop did as well.

I will try your last suggestion. Hope it works.

Anyway, thank you for your kindly help.

    Warm regards.

    Hi Kai,

You mentioned that you exported a VM to a local workstation. What was the original topology of this VM? Was it a cloud hosted DEV VM or already a local VHD?

    Hi André,

    Sorry for late reply.

It was a cloud hosted DEV VM, and other team help me to export it to a VHD.

Is there any difference between them?

    Warm regards.

    Hi Kai,

Yes, there is a difference between them. The local VHD is containing Azure emulators for several services which are not installed on a cloud hosted DEV VM. To be able to have this preview working correctly, you would need to download a "OneBox" VM from the LCS asset library containing the correct configurations and setup.

    Hi André,

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. That's really helpful.

My VMs exported to local workstation are both cloud hosted DEV VMs.

I think that's the point. I shall apply for a "OneBox" VM then.

    Warm regards.
