Sales Cubes and Inventory Cubes Issues

Hi,

Anybody has idea on Sales cube, Purchase cubes, Inventory cubes etc? I am acing a serious problem in cubes especially in sales and inventory. I can see some products are showing into the category unknown. For example if I take sales cube with Customers, sales value and quantity, the unknown is coming. I could manage to find out for which cutomer it is coming but that customer master is same as others. So no idea artiuclarly for that customer why it is coming as unknown. And in Inventory cube also unknown is coming for item group and item number. So not able to track which item it is.

Anybody has any idea on it?

Hi Dhanoop,

I can't understand where you are seeing this 'unknown'. Can you explain the example using the sales cube?

Hi Dhanoop,

I'd check the relations between the measure(s) and dimension(s) selected. Usually "Unknown" records used for measure cannot map with any records in the Dimension.

Using "take sales cube with Customers, sales value and quantity" as an example. Assuming:

Customer = Customer.Customer

Sales value = Customer Invoice lines.Customer invoice line amount - accounting currency

Sales quantity = Customer Invoice lines.Customer Invoice Quantity - sales unit

Then the thing I'd check would be whether there's any record in CUSTINVOICETRANSEXPNADED view that don't map to CUSTTABLECUBE view.

Hi Lee and Guy Terry,

The issue has been sorted out. I have run the full compilation of Cubes and then only the unknown part thrown out. I know the reason why it has come. I have created the new customers but it was not updated in cubes database. I have the automatic updation of the cubes but they are just updating the transactions not customer master and everything. So after running full compilation the information has updated.

Hello,

I have the same issue Like you had. Can you please tell me how you did the full compilation? When I process the sales cube I'm doing right click on the database sales cube and Process. How can I do the full compilation?

Hi Catalina,

To process everything, right click on the analysis server database, and choose 'Process'. You'll find it one level above the 'Sales cube' cube, and by default it's called 'Dynamics AX Initial'.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, but this is the way that I used to Process the Cube, and I still have the year 2015 under Unknown name.

I organized a file to extract all the sales per Worker, per year, quarter, months. And all the years up to 2014 are coming all right only the last year 2015 is named unknown, but is still have the figures for this year up to today, summarized.

Do you have any other ideas what I can do to fix this?

Hi Catalina,

Can you please drag down the item names into the unknown field. Then you may find those items are new items or old items. If they are old items please check with the items, somebody has made some modifications in the product settings. Or if it is new items, the unknown field will go after full process of the cubes.

Hi Catalina,

I wonder if you need to check the 'Date range' at Sys Admin -> Setup -> Business intelligence -> Analysis Services -> Date dimensions.
