How to apply hot fix or KB article in DEV environment in D365FO

Hi All,

We are trying to KB 4648893 in D365FO Dev environment, but unable to see the option "Apply hotfix" in the path:

Dynamics 365-->Addins,

we are using VS2017,

how we can apply any KB or Hotfix in dev.

Please advise us.

Hi,

Hot fix can be applied through LCS for Cloud environments.

check the MS link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/deployment/apply-deployable-package-system

For VHD check the MS link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/migration-upgrade/install-metadata-hotfix-package

Hi,

You can deploy the KB from LCS and then apply update, before that you need to save the binary update in LCS shared library.

Hi Ramit,

We have saved the KB into Asset library, it is still not yet validated,

do we need to wait for sometime or it get validated automatically.

One more thing how can we save the binary update in LCS shared library, please let us know.

Hi All,

We have saved the KB in Asset library, can I directly applied it to Dev from LCS, or do I need to take any kind of backup or any other actions required before applying from LCS .

If not from LCS then can we get the procedure to apply KB from command prompt and the commands used in this process.

As I am doing this first time.

It will be really helpful for me.

Hi,

Please find below reference document for your concern:

To apply from LCS:

docs.microsoft.com/.../apply-deployable-package-system

To apply from command line:

docs.microsoft.com/.../install-deployable-package

For backing up the system, normally you need to backup your code and database in case the update might not completed properly. Normally if you update successfully then the code and database in the current environment will not change too much.

For backup the customization, you might use VSTS to check-in your code to a centralized repository. If you don't have VSTS then you can backup the local model files.

For backing up the database, you might export it to bacpac file.

If we apply the KB package from Asset library to DEV, will it impact anything, do we need to take any kind of backup before applying it from LCS.
