Rehire of employee through Recruiting Management

Hi Folks,

I have a situation where one of the applicants is a previous employee. So at the end of recruiting cycle I am trying to change the Application Status Modify by clicking on "Hire New Worker" in order to convert the applicant to an employee. This one works fine when I hire a brand new applicant and change the Applicant Status to employee. But when I try to hire(or should I say Rehire) this previous employee by the same method, the "Hire New Worker" button is disabled. Also the last option in Application Status Modify which is "Transfer Worker" is permanently disabled. FYI, when I directly rehire a past worker it is working fine.

Any help/tips would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

My guess is this limitation (or capability depending on how you look at it) is by design.  Because there is already a reference between the Applicant and an Employee record from a previous employment process, the system won't let you create another employee record since it found one for the person already.  In this case, the approach would be to go directly to the applicant's old employee record and manually define a new employment to make them an employee again. After that you can also change the 'correspondence action' on the application to show that they were employed even though the Hire new worker/Transfer new worker buttons weren't used.

If this is not a satisfactory process, I suggest logging a MS support ticket or wish list item on MS Connect.

hi Justin, thank you for sharing your thoughts. If I remember correctly the MS development team is/was working towards activating those buttons. It's a known bug and when this issue was mentioned to them they acknowledged. So, instead of work arounds I would like to see the system performing as it is expected. Thanks again !

    Hi Soma,

I was working on similar issue lately and you need to implement 2 hotfixes:

KB3036896 - Cannot rehire a past worker from recruitment process

KB3044338 - Cannot rehire a terminated worker from recruitment

That's the information I was looking for! Thank you Michal. Would you know if these hotfixes are part of CU8 or can be deployed independently?

    Hi all,

I am having this same issue.  The fix listed is for R3.  I can't seem to find the fix for R2.  Can anybody help?

    Thanks.

    Hello Michal,

Based on the CU9 hotfixes you mentioned above, I want to ask if you deployed and tested those already? If so, is it working as expected? Would appreciate if you can share your experience.

    Thank you.

    Hello Rebecca,

I see you had a similar issue around Rehire. Are you being able to rehire from Recruiting module? If so would appreciate sharing the steps. Also did you deploy the CU9 hotfixes to resolve the rehire issue?

    Hi Rebecca,

What's the hotfix #? Is it in CU9 that MS released in June? Thanks !
