Our organization is attempting to set up a new Vendor Class to be used in setting up new Vendors. The Class has been set up, but when we attempt to select it within Vendor Maintenance it does not appear in the list. The new Class appears in the appropriate Vendor Class SQL table, but we cannot get it to appear in the software itself after creation. Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks!
Jeremy
How was the class created? Did you create in the application or did you create directly in the SQL table.
It was set up through the software per instructions from within GP and also manuals provided to our organization. The SQL piece was just to see if it existed and how the table values compared to other records.
This might seem weird, but have you ensured that you are looking at the top of the Vendor Class list. I ask cause in testing this, I created a CLASS that was found in the alphabet above the DEFAULT class id - I am sure you looked - just wondering as it struck me as funny.
Hi Bill,
Interestingly enough, this was one of our first actions as we have, indeed, experienced this scenario in the past for other similar listings. Unfortunately, scrolling to the top of the list wasn't the solution in this case.
Hello J,
If you created it in GP, it should show up in the Class list. If it is in the SQL table it should show up. As Bill mentioned make sure you scroll through the whole list to be sure. Also, set up another brand new one as a test and see if that one shows up. (You can delete it if not assigned.)

Microsoft Support
Hi Jeremy,
Just to add to what has already been suggested it might be an idea to setup a DEXSQL.LOG or even a normal SQL trace when you click on "Class ID" in GP and then replay the SQL statements that are running in SQL management studio to see if this sheds any light on the situation.
As a side note I've also had weird things happen when the ANSI options are ticked in the ODBC setup that GP uses to connect to the SQL server. (I remember one particular issue where this affected the Bank Management module we use in the UK)
This post shows how to create a DEXSQL.log

And this one a SQL trace

I hope this helps
Thanks
