Hello Experts, I have a requirement to develop an Inventory Cube for my company.

Can anyone help me with what are the tables am to use to create the view pls? Any recommendation on the measure? Anything that you guys deem important would be greatly appreciated.

For this Cube they want to see how the inventory is. that is Physical quantity, available quantity, on hand  etc.

    Hi Lionel07

    AX 2012 R2 / R3 already has an InventoryValueCube.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../inventory-value-cube-inventvaluecube-for-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012-r2-and-r3

Perhaps it will give you what you want already?

Alternatively, you could a take a look at the Views behind it to see how it works. Start at the InventValueCube Query, and look at the Views used.

Aside from that, my suggestion would be to use InventTrans, InventTransOrigin and InventDim. Your measures will most likely be the Qty field, and one or more of the CostAmount fields on InventTrans.

Thanks for your response Guy, but i don't think the inventoryValueCube gives me what i want.

So for example, I want to be able to run a cube to see what are the items in the physical and financial amount that i have in stock. I thought the inventoryCube would give me this but it doest not.

I am now forced to build a cube that can give a similar result like the inventory value report.  The tables you recommended are not giving me the correct values....

    Hi Lionel07,

If you cannot get the values you want, you are probably not excluding the right transactions. From what you describe, it sounds like you only want transactions with a Receipt status of blank, Received or Purchased, and Issue status of blank, Deducted or Sold.

Hi Guy, what i want exactly is a cube that will give me my physical inventory and the monetary value of the inventory. I really need some help on this. As I mentioned before the inventoryValueCube does not give me this information.

I have tried to implement a cube using the following tables: InventSUM, InventDIM, InventBatch but it gave me error when i tried to link the InventBatch and inventSUM.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As I said, I wouldn't use InventSum for that, because of the way that InventSum stores that data at multiple levels of the inventory dimensions (but that doesn't mean it's not possible).

Building a cube is wee bit  sensitive matter in AX2012. You need to take care of dimensions and measures. Do not include non-needed fields in your view. Make sure to assign an aggregate type to each real/decimal type field and make remaining fields as dimensions.

Finally include your cubs into existing Cube Group called Dynamics AX, because that's mainly used to display data on EP role centers. In-fact you can mark only single cubes group as primary which ultimately feeds your dashboard, or else you have to use excel to extract data of cubes.
