Fixed Assets not depreciating

(1) ShareShare

I have set up all the components for the fixed assets.   Depreciation works correctly for all new acquisitions but will not calculate for the assets that had the Acquisition Cost and Accumulated Depreciation added manually through the FA Journal?   Anyone know why?

I have the same question (0)

    Jan,

Would you be able to show me a Fixed Asset Card for an asset not depreciating? Also, the Fixed Asset Ledger image too. If you posted an Acquisition Cost and Accumulated depreciation, against the Asset and its Depreciation Book with a Net Book Value, and a Depr. Method, Starting Date, and all the setups completed, the Asset should depreciate.

Send the images so we can see.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I also tried the 2018-06-01 the actual acquisition date.  Neither worked

Also because I have closed the year I could not post on Oct 31 2020 (YE) so I post Nov 1 2020

    Thank you for you help!

    Jan,

I added a Fixed Asset and here are my screen shots and ledger entries:

Now run Calculate Depreciation for November 30, 2020.

Check my setup and postings and compare. Did you enter a Declining % on the Depreciation Book? I also do not see any Depreciation Days entered on the Depreciation Entry.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I did another one and added the day in the FA Journal and the depr worked correctly.  Thank you for your help

Now the depr is working except the amount depreciating is incorrect.  I have one asset depreciating $4,496.00 for 29 days and it should be approx.  $379.

    The Acq Cost is $186,021.6  AccDep $175,392.28  Acq Date: 2003-04-29   30%DB   Days (to Oct 31 2020) = 6302

running the depr for Nov 2020 only

    Jan,

When you ran Calculate Depreciation, did you enter a Posting Date = 11/30/2020 or any other fields?

    Thanks,

    Hi Steve,

When migrating Fixed Asset from another finance system to Business Central, is it important to include the "No. of Depreciation Days" in the FA Journal that is bringing in the Acquisition Cost and Depreciation as at the date of migration? If i leave "No. of Depreciation Days" = 0, is this why Business Central doesn't generate any depreciation when I use the "Calculate Depreciation" function?

    Kind regards,
    Daniel
