Sales Orders with Ship Complete require Reservations for processing - Need a fix

(0) ShareShare

The issue:

When using standard Sales Orders in AX 2012 R3 and Checking the "Ship Complete" box, a reservation is required of all products in order to ship.  The reservation process must be done manually when product arrives and this process if very time consuming and requires that someone know that material is available.

I have looked in to this previously and thought that there was a "fix" for this issue and that it would be resolved in the latest (CU8) update, but it still appears to be an issue.

Questions:

1. Is anyone else using Ship Complete on your orders?  And how are you dealing with having to reserve all the lines manually once inventory is available?

2. Is there a Batch process that can be run to check outstanding Sales orders (demand) against current On Hand Inventory (supply) and automatically create reservations?

    Hi Ansel,

Assuming you are using Warehouse management (WHS) functionality in R3, in answer to point 2: Yes, there is a Batch process that can reserve stock to sales orders before attempting to release them. It's called 'Automatic release of sales orders', and was added to Warehouse management -> Periodic with CU8.

This functionality offers a different way to ensure an order is picked in full, first time using a fulfillment rate.

    Important relevant settings include:

A/R parameters -> Warehouse management fast tab.

Similar fields on the Customer -> Warehouse management fast tab

To use the 'Auto-reserve' functionality of the Periodic job, you must set the parameter on the Warehouse setup 'Reserve when orders are released by a batch job'.

If you don't want to install CU8, the functionality can be download separately using Hotfix KB 2986301.

Documentation on this functionality can be seen at technet.microsoft.com/.../dn887220.aspx  (I wish I'd found that before I wrote everything above!!)

    Guy,

Thank you for the response, that is the information I was looking for but couldn't seem to pin down the right search criteria.  I think this will work.  Thanks!
