Does anyone know how to debug a display method in an SSRS Report?

Hey all,

We've been having an issue with security on one of our SSRS reports that uses a query object instead of a data provider to populate the data from the report. There was recently a thread on this forum about how to resolve the issue, and we pretty much came up with the same solution on our own, except unlike the thread author, we do not know the table/table field we need in order to fix the issue. With this in mind, we were wondering if anyone had any advice on how to debug a display method associated with the query. Bonus if someone can tell us how to do it with the reduced rights we're trying to test right now.

Thanks for any advice you can throw our way.

Brandt

    Hi Brandt,

I don't see how to debug a display method when rendering a SSRS report. But you can mimic the query execution in X++ code, then you'll be able to call the display method with the corresponding record and debug it.

    Hi Brandt,

Assume your team have the technical know how and the access rights...

Locate the display method in AOT. Look into the method and start from there.

But maybe I misunderstood your question.
