Hi,
I have a few AX servers that I want to transfer to a standalone environment as we have transitioned to D365. I have an AOS server and SQL server which is integrated to our AD. As a user is logged into AD they can open AX client. Is it possible to transfer the AX servers to a standalone pc as virtual machines and get a local user to access the client somehow and how would I do this? Or do I need a copy of a AD server with it?
If you don't like any of those two options, then you have a problem. But I thought that using a dedicated domain controller was something you considered.
Note that I said nothing about an upgrade to AX 2012 R3.
I do want to move to standalone and not upgrading it as AX 2012 R3 is End of Life as well. Is there any way of doing this or Im just running into a wall.
If you don't want to run AX on Windows Server 2012 R2, you can use Windows Server 2016. AX 2012 R2 is supported on it since CU9.
If you want to keep AX in a separate network, the network will need a domain controller.
Hi, We are still using active directory but do not want the AX servers on the network due to Cybersecurity requirements as they are using Windows Server 2012 R2 as it be ending support sometime this year.
I didn't get the question. Are you saying that your company stopped using Active Directory? If not, why you don't you simply keep using it for AX too?
