Is it possible to extend the length of this field? Is it wise to do so?
You can change the length of DirPartyName data type. This would have impact everywhere where this data type is used.
However many fields that handle name are not using this data type, instead they use some other such as Name, which is already only 60 characters long.
Also, some reports where this info is printed might need layout changes to fit 200 characters.
So, it's possible and you can evaluate if you want to do it.
What is the business requirement? Do you deal with persons or organizations whose name is longer than 100 characters? I have not seen such names very often.

You can create DirPartyName extension, then change string size. But as Nikolaos said, This would have impact everywhere where this data type is used.
You can change the StringSize of an EDT using extensions, if following conditions are met:
- The EDT is not deriving from any other EDT. If it is deriving, please go to the base data type and extend that
- The base EDT supports changing the length with extension
