Import product line items using xlsx template

Posted on by 5

Hi,

we are just integrating the latest CRM updates to the new user interface and are facing difficulties uploading data using excel templates.

we used to have a template for uploading product line items into an opportunity and would upload this xlsx file using the import data function, with no issues.

in the new interface we cannot import an xlsx file. We can only see the XML or CSV import under ‘import from excel’. If I try and save my excel table as an XML table and import it, I need to map the columns, however at this opportunity level I cannot see the individual columns for product line items. So cannot map this.

Is there an updated workflow to achieve this? Or can anyone suggest any work arounds?

I can still access this import data function using the old interface but I do not know when this will be retired.

    Hi Samp17,

As you mentioned due the unified interface chagne some functioality are not keeped as they works on Web client. However the import "XLXS" files it's not one of them.

You should be still able to import xlxs files, in fact if you click on the option "Import from Excel" this will prompt the wizard for upload your xlxs file. So please, instead of use the little narrow on this option, you should click it to start the import process.

Also, if you click on the little narrow you will see the other options for XML and CSV files.

Finally, did you already tried to add the entity "Opportunity lines" to the site map (you cna use this link to achieve it) in order to be able to re-map your files converted to XML using the "XML file upload"

So far, there are no timeline for the deprecation of Web client on the Settings, so you can continue working with this scenario until deprecation it's announced.

Please let me know if you are able to use the "Import from Excel" button on your environment.

    Regards,
